Hide and Seek

Description

Two teams, each with an online player and a phone player.

Phone players stop and take photos whenever they have a choice of directions to take. Online players direct their Phone player by sending them back a photo. Each of the online players can see all of the photos taken by the both teams. Online players must guide their phone player towards the other.

The first team to photograph the opposing team wins.

Duration 15mins

Team 1: Jouka & Alastair
Team 2: Sabiha & Martin

Played indoors at the MRL in the Computer Science building.

Phone player from each team found a secret starting location somewhere in the building and began taking photos of the decision points they reached in the building.

What was it like to play?

Online play appeared to be fun & strategic.
For phone players the start/stop of moving and taking photos felt very mechanical.

Jouka saw Sabiha across the atrium but she was too far away to appear in the photo. Both phone players ended up running and taking photos less mechanically as the end neared.

Logs: Jouka's Phone | Sabiha's Phone

How could it develop?

Play it with phone players only
- each has to hunt the other down
- take a photo to see a photo

No hiding just seeking (using photos to negotiate arriving at a place)

With different time and geographic scales - 2 phone players have to find each other across a city
